    If you have followed me for a while, you know that little Mahi has had his share of adventures (and misadventures), from tumbling down a hillock in excitement at 4 weeks old to being lost on the streets of Delhi for 2 weeks— and found through a @saoirse_poetry made my day with this beautiful summing up of their experience at Telling it Slant at @nomadgallu with @katyal.akhil and me last year. Being able to facilitate such experiences and connections is truly the greatest gift, and one we ar Since yesterday’s poem struck a chord with many of you, here’s a companion piece written at the same time. It is hard to think about babies this year without thinking constantly about Palestine — and while there are no comparisons o 3 years and 3 months ago, fresh off the worst of the Delta wave of the pandemic, I registered to adopt a baby girl. Now, as the day of meeting her nears (the average wait time in India currently is 3 years and 8 months), I cannot help thinking about After weeks of a horrible flu, and months of being inundated with admin work (and, frankly, creatively blocked), today I wrote 6000 words. Then, to clear my mind, I went to my pottery studio and started making without bothering to clean up first. Bes @katyal.akhil ‘s new book launches in a few hours, and we are out celebrating already.
